CURIOUS LEGACIES : A Short-Play Festival that Flips the Script on Aging

In Celebration of Older Americans month,
the Friends of the Senior Centers of Los Alamos present:
CURIOUS LEGACIES: A Short-Play Festival that Flips the Script on Aging
The festival includes three comedies written by Robert F. Benjamin. Each play about “quirky lessons” will feature local performers and directors.  These live-in-person plays are Benjamin’s most popular comedies about “aging with grace, courage and humor.”
Each play will be followed by a brief, interactive audience talkback.
In Grampy’s Oatmeal, ten-year-old Jamie strives to learn why Grampy has eccentric perspectives on most everything, but she discovers something far more important.

The Petition depicts a young woman activist (Rosa) confronting an older woman (Lou) about signing a petition. Lou insists on knowing both sides of an issue before signing.  After Rosa’s anger subsides, she realizes Lou’s value as a powerful ally.

Allocating the Jewels is a meeting of two older women who are long-time friends.  Joyce criticizes Diane’s giving away her treasures before dying and her planning a “celebration of life” party. When Diane offers her “crown jewel,” Joyce is dumbfounded and has to make the most difficult decision of her life.

All are welcome to join us for these upbeat plays on Sunday afternoon, May 18, 2025 at 1:00 pm

Location:  SALA Event Center, 2551 Central Avenue, Los Alamos, 87544.

This event is a fundraiser.  Donations to the Friends of the Senior Centers (FOSC) will be accepted at the door.  A $10 per person donation is suggested for adults.

All proceeds benefit the Senior Activity Centers of Los Alamos County.
