About The Event

The New Mexico Consortium is hosting Cosmic Frontiers: Stephen Hawking & The Universe, a two-day event centered around scientist Stephen Hawking. The event, the first in a planned yearly ‘Cosmic Frontiers’ series, includes a screening of the 1991 film on Hawking, “A Brief History of Time” – which won the prestigious Sundance Film Festival Grand Jury Prize (1992) – followed by a Q&A with the Executive Producer of the film, Gordon Freedman. There will be a scientific symposium Saturday morning and a panel discussion on Sunday with cosmology and astrophysics experts (Ray LaFlamme, Fumika Suzuki, Kip Thorne, Thomas Hertog, Laura Mersini-Houghton, Emil Mottola, and Paul Davies). These cosmologists, students, friends and collaborators of Professor Stephen Hawking will discuss the science since the film came out and where we are on the topic, as well as giving personal stories about Hawking.  Book signings and stargazing will also be part of the festivities.

See the website cosmicfrontiers.org for more details.
