After hearing that a boy their age has been accidentally killed near their rural town, four friends—Gordie, Vern, Chris, and Teddy—set out to see the body. Along the way, they face a grumpy junk man and a marsh teeming with leeches, but they also discover more about each other and their very different home lives.
