In May 2023, the ultra-endurance canoe team Mississippi Speed Record (MSR) set the Guinness World Record paddling the entire 2340-mile length of the Mississippi River in 16 days, 20 hours, 16 minutes. This movie documents the adventures of the 4-man team paddling around the clock from the headwaters in Minnesota to the mouth in Louisiana, breaking through the ice on Lake Winnibigoshish, shooting the rapids in St. Louis, portaging around dams in the middle of the night, dodging 6-foot bow waves of barges, taking turns sleeping in the canoe, taking turns pooping in the only 2 seats in the canoe equipped with latrines, and working together to overcome physical and mental exhaustion. Spectacular photography highlights the incredible wilderness, dangers, and challenges of the river. MSR canoeist Judson Steinback will be at SALA to introduce the movie, answer questions, and sign autographs.
